Sardinia has high percentage of people living long lives in its mountain region.
Sardinia mountains were extremely isolated until the second half of the 20th century.
Think small tribes living completely isolated and self-sufficient lives in small mountain villages.
The main occupation (pretty much the only occupation) was raising sheep, goats, and pigs.
They also raised cows.
The main source of food (by far) was eating these same sheep, goats, pigs, and cows.
Besides meat, people in remote mountains of Sardinia also ate:
Sausages and ham made from mostly pig meat and fat
Raw milk
Beans and lentils
Local seasonal vegetables
Local seasonal fruit - mainly grapes and figs
Nuts - mainly chestnuts and walnuts
Lots of wine - mostly red
Sourdough-leavened bread
Minestrone soup - seasonal vegetables and pork stock
Cheese - mainly Casu Agedu, made from raw goat or sheep milk
